The DA in Limpopo welcomes the arrest of the Senior Manager from Human Resource Management in the office of the Premier in Limpopo Province for alleged fraud.

In September 2012 the position was advertised and in subsequent interviews Ms Moipone Mathole was the preferred candidate.

Not satisfied with the result, the Office of the Premier, re-advertised the position, did not shortlist Ms Mathole, but she was sent for a competency test together with  Mr Mbobole Michael Maseko who was later appointed in the position.

It is alleged that Mr Maseko misrepresented his qualifications during the interview by fraudulently claiming that he obtained a diploma.

The position of Senior Manager: Human Resources is a strategic position, yet adequate vetting was clearly neglected.

This appointment resulted in a R11 million loss for the Premier’s Office and the arrest confirmed our long-held view that HR policies are flouted to sacrifice competency to appoint unqualified cadres in the Office of the Premier.

The only thing keeping the ANC in Limpopo alive is patronage through cadre deployment and corruption and we commend the HAWKS for the action taken.
