The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Thabazimbi call on Mayor Jacob Pilane not to allow further decay of municipal buildings and to hold officials accountable for the blatant waste.
This after a recent oversight to the Rooiberg Hall confirmed the neglect state of the building; the hall cannot be locked and is being vandalised, livestock freely enters the premises and the main gate to the property is not secured. (See photos here and here)
There are no visible security presence and no indication that this municipal asset is managed or safeguarded.
This state of the Rooiberg Hall mirrors the neglect at the Kromdraai and Regorogile Halls — a systemic neglect of municipal facilities entrusted to the care of the administration.
Residents pay rates and taxes intended for the maintenance, protection and effective administration of municipal infrastructure; the Rooiberg Hall is indicative of the direct opposite — unchecked vandalism, deteriorating infrastructure, and complete absence of oversight.
The DA strongly condemns this unacceptable neglect and waste of public funds.
Municipal assets are not optional luxuries ,but community investments meant to serve residents for events, meetings, and development initiatives; allowing valuable infrastructure to fall into decay without accountability is a failure of governance.
