Today, Wednesday, 3 June 2026, Democratic Alliance (DA) Leader, Geordin Hill-Lewis, will be visiting an elderly woman in her 80s from Mabopane whose rape and brutal assault case has remained before the courts since 2023.
Despite the seriousness of the crime, the survivor is still waiting for justice nearly three years later. The DA successfully opposed bail for the accused and has continued to monitor the case closely.
The prolonged delays in this matter expose the ongoing failures of the criminal justice system and the devastating toll that delayed justice takes on victims of violent crime.
For victims of gender-based violence, justice delayed is justice denied.
During the visit, Hill-Lewis will reaffirm the DA’s commitment to fighting for a justice system that puts victims first and delivers timely accountability for violent offenders.
