Fresh elections loom in Thabazimbi

The Democratic Alliance notes the decision by the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) to accept a report calling for the dissolving of the Thabazimbi local municipality. This follows the chaos caused by the ANC setting up a parallel structure effectively creating two seats of power in the municipality.

The vote to dissolve the municipality means the councillors lose their seats and their salaries in order to contest fresh elections in the best interests of the residents.

The DA always has, and always will, do whatever it takes to improve the lives of residents and to ensure effective service delivery for all people in Thabazimbi.

While other political party’s representatives have been more concerned about their own paychecks, the DA has made it clear that only a DA majority government can save Thabazimbi from its current rapid decline and this will be our goal going into the 2026 local government elections.

The people of Thabazimbi should not have to suffer because of power hungry politicians pursuing their own agendas. The DA assures residents that the party will do whatever it takes to bring back clean, transparent and honest governance that put people before power and services before self-interest.
