The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Polokwane calls for the immediate suspension of Councillor Desmond Moloto from his duties as Member of the Mayoral Committee for Roads, Transport and Stormwater following his arrest on 28 July 2025.
According to reports, Councillor Moloto was apprehended during an oversight activity for alleged traffic violations.
While the details of the case remain subject to investigation, we believe that public office bearers must always uphold the highest standards of integrity and accountability at all times.
Mayor John Mpe is expected to ensure that allegations of misconduct are addressed in a manner that upholds the credibility of the administration.
The DA will not allow this matter to be swept under the rug and will take it further in Council if the mayor fails to fulfil his duty.
