The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Lephalale notes the resignation of Mayor Aron Mokgethle amidst continued instability within the ANC-led administration.
While the ANC once again focuses on infighting and scurrying for positions of power, the reality for residents in Marapong, Shongoane, Thabo Mbeki, Seleka and communities across Lephalale remain dire.
Residents continue to face ongoing sewage spillages, unreliable electricity supply and water interruptions, roads and municipal infrastructure continue to deteriorate, service delivery failures persist across communities and the municipality remains plagued by instability and ANC corruption and incompetence.
The DA makes it clear that we will not become part of the ANC’s internal factional fights or assist to legitimise a farcical process that does nothing to improve the lives of residents.
The ANC can continue to elect new mayors in council, but until the ANC is removed by the voters, nothing will change for the people of Lephalale.
Residents now have an opportunity to register to vote for the DA during the upcoming registration weekend of 20 and 21 June 2026 and to unite their votes behind the DA at the Local Government Elections on 4 November this year.
Where the DA governs, we have demonstrated that clean governance, accountability and service delivery are possible. Lephalale deserves a government that works for its people, and get Lephalale working.
