The DA in Limpopo will lodge a formal complaint with the South African Human Rights Commission and approach the Equality Court to investigate whether Vhembe District Municipality’s decision to advertise a meeting with ANC Executive Mayor Milyelani Chauke specifically for the “White Community” of Louis Trichardt constitutes unfair discrimination. More than 30 years into democracy, municipalities should unite communities, not classify residents by race. This decision is particularly concerning while Louis Trichardt residents continue to endure water shortages and failing infrastructure.
Service delivery does not see colour; potholes, broken streetlights and dry taps affect residents regardless of race. Vhembe Municipality should focus on fixing these problems rather than creating divisions along racial lines.
The DA will demand an explanation from the Executive Mayor Chauke and concrete commitments to resolving the water crisis. Community engagement must bring residents together around shared challenges, with equal treatment and accountability at its core.
Residents do not need a municipality that sees black and white communities. They need one that sees dry taps, broken infrastructure and the urgent need for reliable services – Your vote for the DA on 4 November 2026 can end this chaos.
