The DA in Polokwane, will be writing to the municipal Manager, Thuso Nemugumoni, urging her office to prioritize provision of water to hospitals by the Municipality’s water trucks on a daily basis, when there are water outages in the municipality.

A recent oversight visit to Seshego Hospital revealed that the hospital had been without water for a week, and that the municipal water trucks rarely deliver water to the hospital in times of crisis.

The shortage of water at the hospital presents challenges in cleaning the facility, maintaining hygiene standards as well as the flushing of toilets and bathing for patients. View photo herehere and here.

Polokwane municipality should be consistently supplying water to the hospitals and clinics in Polokwane during water outages to augment the supply from whatever contingency measures exist at the facilities.

The DA understands that access to water is a basic human right and that hospitals provide health care services and cannot be without water.

We care about the wellbeing of residents and will continue to monitor the issue and ensure that Polokwane Municipality prioritises hospitals and clinics when distributing water tanker services.
