The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Limpopo welcomes the intervention by Minister Dean Macpherson into the apparent “jobs-for-ANC-members” programme being run in the Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality.
This matter was brought to light by Councillor Ledile Laka, the only DA councillor in the Municipality. Her actions demonstrate that even where the DA is in the minority, we continue to fight relentlessly for fairness and equal opportunity for all residents. (See photo here)
The era of ANC cadre deployment must come to an end. The DA, together with the Minister, will hold municipalities accountable, particularly when it comes to Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) opportunities, which are intended to serve as a lifeline for the unemployed, not as rewards for ANC card-carrying members.
The DA in Limpopo calls on all residents to report any instances of political interference or exploitation of government processes.
DA councillors stand as the vanguard for the poor and unemployed. This is precisely why it is critical to elect more DA councillors in the upcoming local government elections to root out corruption and restore integrity in municipalities across Limpopo.
