Today the DA attended the first court appearance of Albert Mangena in the Mookgopong Magistrates Court.
Mangena was arrested for the murder of Nicky Janse van Rensburg on the Derdekraal farm outside Roedtan over the weekend.
The accused and 4 other suspects, who are still at large, fatally shot the deceased and tied up his life partner and a teenage boy who were found by farm workers the next morning.
The suspects fled the scene with firearms, cell phones and other valuables.
The suspect was arrested during an intelligence driven operation after he was spotted in the getaway vehicle outside Moletje.
Mangena is allegedly linked to various serious crimes in Limpopo.
The DA condemns this heinous murder and we call on Provincial Police Commissioner, Lt-Gen Thembi Hadebe, to curtail the unabated crime fest in our rural areas by reinstating rural safety units ,deploying more police officers and efficient resources to serve our isolated communities.
The case is postponed to 24 October 2022 for the bail hearing. The DA will be in attendance to closely monitor the investigation.
