The DA calls on the Independent Police Investigation Directorate (IPID) for well documented transparency and objectivity in their mandatory investigation into the civilian that was fatally shot during an attempted arrest in Trichardtsdal on 27 July 2026.
According to a SAPS media release, police officers, including members of tactical response and public policing, were executing a lawful warrant of arrest in a domestic violence complaint when the suspect became aggressive and allegedly pulled out a firearm when he was fatally shot.
A murder docket was opened and the case was referred to IPID for investigation.
