On 30 January 2025, the DA in Polokwane submitted a motion to debate the inadequate water service delivery to residents by the municipality.
Despite embattled Polokwane residents have experienced escalating water challenges since 2017, the ANC voted against the debate accusing the DA of a political attack.
The ruling party continues to fail residents as once again residents have been without water for days now; the municipality simply does not have the answers to turn around this crisis that is causing untold hardships to residents of Polokwane.
The City of Polokwane is losing a considerable amount of revenue that can be utilised for water infrastructure maintenance
To exacerbate the total mismanagement of the water crisis, the Auditor -General flagged a 24% water loss amounting to R68 million during the previous financial year.
The unequal enforcement of credit control policies, especially in the areas that receives unbilled water such as Mankweng remains a concern which is being dismissed.
The DA will continue to be voice of reason until the ruling party musters up the political will to fix their failures or is voted out next year.
